Founded in 2009 by self-taught Jamaican-born designer Matthew Harris, Mateo New York is one of the most acclaimed fine jewelry brands of its generation. Originally a men's line that pivoted to women's fine jewelry in 2014, Mateo crafts each piece from 14-karat gold with diamonds, pearls, and vivid gemstones in New York City. Featured in Vogue, W Magazine, and The New York Times, and worn by Rihanna, Solange, Zendaya, Halle Bailey, and many more. Selected by the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture in 2016. In 2025, Harris partnered with designer furniture brands and opened a boutique in Lisbon.
